one month

school's been out for exactly one month today!  while H and I have had more time to spend together this summer, it has been anything but boring, but it has not been all fun and games.  weekend after school got out, I spent all Sat and Sun finishing my first 3-credit course, "dimensions of learning".  the following week, I was at my parents' house during the day taking care of grandma and writing my final paper/reflection, doing some reading, making a fun scrapbook for eastcoastqueen and her hubby, and taking advantage of mom and dad's free on-demand movies.  the next week was july 4 week and we were in VA visiting H's college friends.  that was relaxing.  read, hiked, cooked, chatted, playdates, chilled, played some of those puzzle games on xbox 360.

upon returning from july 4 weekend, i started and finished my second 3-credit course "expanding student thinking", but i'm still working on my final project, due at the end of the month.  H and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary!  not sure what it is about our timing and having really deep conversations when we're celebrating something.  it's a blessing b/c we know that we can have these talks b/c we trust each other and desire the best for our marriage and for each other.  my realizations are that 1)i still have issues of self-confidence that prevent me from always hearing things without feeling offended and 2)  i want my relationship with God to grow from where it's been stagnant.  would appreciate your prayers in these areas!

my "youthful" body is in pain and soreness after the verizon 5K on thursday.  it was lots of fun, but i forget that my body usually feels worse 2 days after a big workout.  i felt great yesterday until about dinnertime, then it hit me.  today, i'm slow.  but glad my body is still moving and telling me it's working.  haha.  i'm also burying my time into my project so i'm not thinking about H going skydiving...oh, right about now.  God has blessed me with peace.  while i'm thinking about it, i haven't felt anxiety or worry that he won't come back.  peace that can come only from God.

to wind down an already busy july, i'm going to capernaum camp with 6 youth kids and 1 other adult from cccnj next monday to friday.  can't wait to see how God changes us and uses the kids at camp to reach out to us even though we're there to serve them.  despite my busy schedule, i have found time to enjoy movies (at home and at the theatre on the free optimum rewards tuesdays) and reading books.  i didn't think i could enjoy reading so much, but i'm finding some great reads!

have a great weekend!

edit:  H survived his skydiving!  praise the Lord!

half day

perhaps you heard about some schools having a half day today due to the 90-some degree weather today.  we didn't think it would happen at our school b/c our new bldg is all air conditioned.  but we remembered that the elementary schools are not all AC'd.  our old bldg was about half un-AC'd.  so wouldn't you know it?  at 9:30, we found out not only would today be a half day, but so would tomorrow.  it made for a nice time for teachers to grade papers and catch up on end of the year things.  sweet!

8 days to go...

one day until spring break!

spring break begins on Good Friday, and then I'm off for a whole week!  can't wait!

what do i have planned?  i have high aspirations:
  • play catch up with some folks, which includes a couple days in princeton.
  • easter dinner at our house with all of H's family and mine...that includes all the triplets.  i'll let you know after monday if there was enough food.
  • 30 hour famine next weekend with the youth group.  did you know that 29,000 children die each day due to hunger, disease, and poverty?  money that we raise would help world vision feed children who are in need.  if you would like to make a donation, let me know (email me or otherwise).
  • H's birthday is next weekend.  it's also his mom's birthday this week.  double celebration.
happy spring and easter!

8-0 !!!!

ok, so how did i start to follow my alma mater football team?  letmeshine was the first one to give me a clue when BC was about 5-0.  but then one of my students kept updating me as BC kept improving their record and their rankings (his brother is a BC senior now).  they beat our big rival, notre dame a few weeks ago, and tonight again Va Tech...they were down by 10 with about 2 minutes left in the 4th, and then scored 2 TDs!!  now BC is 8-0!!  so exciting!

G-O-E-A-G-L-E-S.... GO EAGLES!

lots to share about from the last few months.  perhaps when i have time this weekend, i'll post some pics and share.  time for bed.  oh, btw, my bro (and sis-in-law) cooked us dinner tonight!  i was so excited to try his cooking, and it was very tasty!  Thanks!
